What is Stephen Ministry?
What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is a ministry in which trained and supervised laypeople, called Stephen Ministers, provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges. Stephen Minister leaders at Ascension look forward to coming alongside you to provide care and support. If you need support please contact the Church Office at (316) 722-4694 or contact Sharon Green-Lee.

What is a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers are congregation members who have trained for 50 hours to offer high-quality, one-to-one Christian care to people going through tough times. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life. Their commonality is a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need. Since 1975, more than 650,000 people from more than 12,000 congregations and other organizations have been trained as Stephen Ministers.

What is a Care Reciever?
Care receivers are people—congregation members and others in the community—who receive care from a Stephen Minister. These are people struggling through a difficult time in life—experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or other life crises. The caring relationship lasts as long as the person is in need of care. The identity of those receiving care, and anything that is shared, remains confidential.
