In this section each week we will provide links to the Deep Dive session in the app. These are sessions with Dallas Jenkins/director and the Biblical consultants for the project: Father David Guffey/Catholic, Rabbi Jason Sobel/Jewish, and Dr. Doug Huffman/Evangelical. If you don’t have time to view the entire 41 minute session, here are a few excerpts to ponder:
·Imagination vs. remaining exactly true to the Word. There is no Scriptural basis for some ideas, such as Simon’s fishing on Shabbat, that are used to demonstrate the humanity of the Biblical characters. There is also no evidence that Matthew was the tax collector for the region inhabited by Simon and Andrew.
·The Chosen focuses on people…

Character and Setting Insights
For Episode 1, Dallas talks about Mary Magdalene (AKA Lilith) with portraying actress Elizabeth Tabish. This discussion is in the YouTube Global Livestream video at the following link:
This is what the LORD says, He Who created you, O Jacob, He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
The father of Mary/Lilith spoke this verse over her when she was frightened and sleepless. Jesus also spoke this verse over Mary prior to casting out her seven demons. Do you have a life verse? It is never too late to designate a passage that can provide daily hope, comfort, and peace, a verse that reminds you of who you are and Whose you are. We invite you to give this some thought, if you haven’t done so already.
